Sari is ancient Indian attire. Its magnificence is still the same as it was years ago. While talking about traditional Indian bridal outfits, the first things that come to your mind are saris, salwar kameez and of course lehnga. While the sari is the most popular wedding dress in India, North Indian brides still prefer wearing a lehenga choli for the D day. A bridal lehenga is rich to look at. It is made of luxuriant fabric with heavy sheen and elaborates embellishments. Embellishment on bridal lehengas is usually in the form of embroidery in silver or golden thread, stone work, crystal patterns and sequins.
Description of a Sari
A sari is one of the most common traditional Indian garments. At one time it was part of daily wear of women in certain parts of the country. However, nowadays it is use only for special occasions such as weddings, engagements and festivals. Sari is 6 to 9 yards long piece of cloth draping which around the body imparts great elegance. This outfit fits every figure woman and moreover looks good on all. This versatility of sari drives women to wear it.
‘Pallu’ is a part of saree. It is sari’s one end that is richly decorated to separate it from the rest part. Pallu can be taken in many forms like in pleated form or pinned over the shoulder, draping down the back etc. Blouse is sari’s yet another part. It is also known as choli. Blouse or choli is worn on the upper part of the body. Petticoat is yet another part that is worn under the sari. Saree is wrapped around the body by tucking tightly into the petticoat so it doesn’t fall down.
Sari Styles
A bride has many different options in terms of sari styles. Bridal sari come decking in various designs. There are traditional designs, modern designs, simple designs, etc. Even, there are some come blending with traditional and modern both designs. Thus, choices are many. Bride is the person who should decide which design will best suit her. Colors of saree are also important point of consideration. Though, red and maroon are basic colors for Indian wedding, but with time taking modern approach other colors like pink, orange, blue, gold, green, etc. have also stepped into fashion. Bride to be is the sole judge in deciding which color sari she wants to wear in her wedding.
