Description of a Sari

A sari is one of the most common traditional Indian garments. At one time it was part of daily wear of women in certain parts of the country. However, nowadays it is use only for special occasions such as weddings, engagements and festivals. Sari is 6 to 9 yards long piece of cloth draping which around the body imparts great elegance. This outfit fits every figure woman and moreover looks good on all. This versatility of sari drives women to wear it.

‘Pallu’ is a part of saree. It is sari’s one end that is richly decorated to separate it from the rest part. Pallu can be taken in many forms like in pleated form or pinned over the shoulder, draping down the back etc. Blouse is sari’s yet another part. It is also known as choli. Blouse or choli is worn on the upper part of the body. Petticoat is yet another part that is worn under the sari. Saree is wrapped around the body by tucking tightly into the petticoat so it doesn’t fall down.
